Death and taxes.
Nope, I won't be talking about the former but the latter. Back home, we didn't really need to file taxes because our employee would do it for us. But then again, you don't really get tax refunds? What? Refund from the government? No way Jose!
But here, I have to file my income tax return. Yes, despite the fact that Uncle Sam has already withheld it from me, yes I do have to file my income tax. And its not just one but two, hmm....federal and state. So, a couple of weeks back, Leila and I visited an accountant friend of hers. I did learn a little bit about how to fill out taxes here but I guess there's always a first time for everything. For of all, you have to get the right forms. For federal taxes, I have to fill out the 1040NR, meaning non-resident. And then when I file that, I have to file another one for the state, hmm....I forgot which it was but I got a form from the post office.
We're supposed to fill it out and then send it out, mail it. And then hopefully, we get a tax refund...whopee...so now, I have to fill it out. Wish me luck! Hehehe....
