This morning, my alarm clock woke me. Well, the radio started playing anyways so that pretty much warned my stream of consciousness, lol, that it was time to wake up, or almost time, as I am always in denial that it is actually time to get up and start getting ready for work.
When I was my conscious self (and enjoying my bowl of cereal), their topic of conversation was, "How much money do you have in your wallet?" The woman DJ said that she was most comfortable with having $40 in her wallet. Hmm, that got me to thinking. $40? Did I even have that much money? Lol. Probably when I arrived here, I had more than that (which didn't really last long since I had so many bills to pay from rent, to buying things, etc. etc. etc.). Which brings me back to the question. According to a national survey, people had like $37 in their wallets. The female DJ was like in the usual range. I on the other hand, hehehe...had nothing like that. Not even half. I have quarters which are about $5 (I had to exchange them to quarters to use in the laundry shop yesterday and had spent an additional $5 to do my laundry) and hmmm...let me see, about $6 (all $1 each), hehehe...so I was nowhere near even half of what an average person here would have in his / her wallet. Hmm...and why not? Well, cash seems so difficult to keep track. When I use my debit card or credit card, they're all reflected in my bank statement and then its so much easier to find out where my money's going (what's little of it anyways) and cash, poof, they just disappear, hehehe...Well, they go to laundry or Mickey D's hehehe...so, I'm all for debit cards.
Back home, I'd have so much more in my wallet. Why? Because that's how people operated there. It's always cash, cash, cash. Sometimes, I'd use my credit card to buy big purchases. But for grocery, commuting, and everything else I needed to buy in the nearest sari-sari store, it'd have to be cash. I'd have like 200 pesos in my wallet. If its a hundred, I'd feel a little sad, if only because it doesn't take me anywhere as much. Just going to Manila from LP cost what, almost 40 pesos and that was just one way. So you can just imagine that it didn't really take you that far. Oh well. But here, well, I'm just glad that I don't go to the mall, well not this much since last week anyways or else I'm going to end up in ON hehehe...and spending my money there. But then again, I worked really hard to earn that money so I deserve a little something something.
So, I still have that $5 worth of quarters and $6 which means I have about what, $11 dollars. Translated to Philippine pesos? About 500 pesos. Hey, not bad. I'm still well within my means then, Pinoy wise...hehehe...

Is it just me or are Americans just innately suspicious if a Pinoy (or other foreigner) pays using a $100 bill?
Yup, they are suspicious of you when you have money more than 20 dollars. I actually felt ashamed whenever I had to pay that amount of money. And then it ran out, now I just have one dollar bills...hehehe...
Actually Americans are suspicious of Americans and anyone else using a $50 bill or higher. Sad that no one trusts anyone else.
