I went to school today to move my "things" to Room 6. I've moved all my files / K books (which really aren't mine but will be using) as well as papers that I compiled throughout the year. I felt sad and yet at the same time, I felt that moving into Room 6 was a new start, which is what I really need considering the things that have happened this year. I felt particularly betrayed by someone. I won't give the gory details but enough to say that keep your enemies close but your "friends" closer. I've certainly learned my lesson from that experience! I'm actually a little nervous that although I have signed my contract, its not final because of what happened. It has certainly dampened my motivation to work considering its the end of the year. Now, I just feel like I want to get the whole week over and done with and stamp this chapter of my life "closed." Hopefully, not to be opened again.
After moving my things, I had a battle as usual with the shredder. I tried to follow the directions but it just died on me and it has refused to work. So now, I have a pile of papers to shred with no shredder, lol. I'm crossing my fingers that I can convince Leila to go to Office Max so I can buy a shredder to replace the one that I err....mangled? Hehehe...oh well, hopefully, a much better one that doesn't stop after two minutes and will need four minutes to rest in between. What kind of shredder is that? Hmmm...a word comes to mind. But I won't say it.
After the battle with the shredder, and a visit at the dumpster, yes, I was at the dumpster to throw away catalogues, I gathered my things together. Took the receipts that I had and filled out a form for reimbursement. With that out of the way, I was on my way to TJ to buy paperbags. On Friday, we're supposed to return everything to the children and we needed a bag for that. I saw in the other classes that they were using it, so I thought I'd buy some with the PTA endowment fund that we have left, which was $7.14. Hehehe...I walked from school to Bolinger. And that walk sort of reminded of the time when I first started. I would usually go to school on Saturday just to catch up on work and prep for work as well. I'd get off at Bollinger and de Anza, (I didn't know back then that Blaney and Bollinger was closer to school) so I would get off there and walk the rest of the way to school. I remember those days when I would lug around my Metrobank bag stuffed with papers very early in the morning, usually the first bus from Saich. Wow, that seems like forever. I wish I knew then what I know now. But then again, that is what regrets usually are.
So I walked, and walked and remembered the times when I had to walk when days were cold and when I'd get lost. I am always poor with directions. One time, I even ended up calling Leila for directions. Hehehe...oh those days when I was stupid and naive. I still am when it comes to work, but I'd like to think I'm a little wiser.
Finally, I ended up in Bollinger and off I went to TJ. I got some turkeyballs for lunch, reduced greek salad as my veggies for the week and instead of apples, I indulged myself in mangoes. I know, not as good as the ones back home, but they'll do. After a very difficult week, I certainly deserve a break.
And I headed to the check out counter in case my hungry tummy would get the better of me and I'd be grabbing this and that. Since I'm leaving on Sunday, I don't need to stock up on food. I'd be gone for the whole summer. I asked the cashier while I was checking out if paperbags were for sale so I could buy some for class. He said that they didn't but I could ask their manager and he hollered at her, hehehe...and she said, no problem. So I got 13 spankin' brand new Trader Joe's paperbags for putting things in for class. Thank you Trader Joe's. You're really my favorite place to shop for food.
With both bags on hand, I waited outside for the bus. The bench was occupied with a family, so I stood by the shade of a tree near the bus stop for almost 15 minutes. Not a bad thing, I texted, listened to music and watched people around. And by the time the bus came around, I was all ready to go home and to lunch!!
So that about ended the day, back to 1...next year is hopefully a new start for me. And I'm sure with even more lessons to learn! Hopefully, not one where I'd lose my job.
Oh yeah, I'm certainly keeping my "friends" closer this time around!
