I should be writing goals for the IEP that I'm going to have for next week so I could send a draft copy to parents. But no...I've found excuses to not actually do them. From watching TV Patrol to watching documentaries to listening to music, reading articles online to hmm..going to the kitchen to get a drink of soda, eating cookies, texting my bf, you name it, I've done it...lol. It's not really unpleasant it's just admittedly a difficult task for me to do. And like my kids, I do my own share of work avoidance too. I just procrastinate and think about what else I can do other than the most important thing that I need to do, and that is to sit down, finish it and then send a copy to parents so that come Monday, I will be ready then. Oh well.
I rememer the thing which I used to avoid doing like the plague was to write. I used to have to write reports for grad school the first time I went to grad school. Lol. It wasn't like I could avoid that being that I majored in, hmm...yikers, I've forgotten what I first majored in, lol. Hmmm...yup, I ended up googling it, oh yeah, Language Education...something like that anyways, lol. And we had to write and write and write...and whadya know, write more, esp. when we had to take courses on Literature, World Literature, Philippine literature. All you had to do was read, analyze and yeah, write about it. What I loved about it though, especially when I started taking my majors was the discussion that followed afterwards. Since we were just five (we were lucky if we reached 6 or 7), we always found time to have discussions. And its not like they can skip you, you have to say your piece or else...hehehe...what grade would our prof give? Hehehe....so other than the writing that I disliked, there was the speaking part too. I would still get nervous when speaking in front of peers, but I guess, with years of doing it (since it took me 4 years to complete my masters), it was like, something I had to do even though I ddin't really want to do it.
Then there's also work. For some reason, there's always the odd report to make about this write up and that. Yikers. I'm used to doing a lesson plan, but trying to describe a program? Oh no...I have do dig deep into the coffers of er...my what the heck, let's just say its difficult to do. And then there was the research paper that we had to engage in at work as well. Wow, thesis in grad school, research papers at work and yeah, the case study for my Special ed masters degree. Sigh. I can't really say that I'm an expert at it because now, the only kind of writing that I need to do is write an IEP, which is not that easy, after all, down the road, this will spell out what the kid's future is going to be. Sheesh, put it like that, that feels even more pressure. Alright, that's it, back to IEP writing...
