It's a Wet Dry Season

I was watching the news as usual and I thought I heard landslide somewhere in Samar. The next day, I mentioned that same bit of news my CT and she was surprised to hear that. And then I realized, oh yeah, a lot of rain at this time of the year? I must have been having a delusion while I was watching the news.

That same night, I saw it again on the news and turns out, I was right. I wasn't having a delusion...what a relief. La nina was supposed to have ended already but what with the climate going out of whack because of what we're doing to nature, its payback time. So, we're supposed to expect a wet dry season. Usually at this time of the year, its supposed to be getting quite warm with March, hence summer approaching. But that is not the case. Sometimes, if I have to be at school early, I have to heat water to take a shower. Normally, I'd be sweating by now. Oh well....its both good and bad. Good because then I can sleep as much as I want and we don't need a fan. But bad, hmm...I hate getting my feet wet...ha ha ha, one of my idiosyncracies. But all in all, I'm not really complaining...zzzzzzzzzzzz....

It's the 29th of February

I just read an article in yahoo about "leaplings." Pretty interesting considering they only celebrate their birthdays every 4 years, not...hehehe...they should be so lucky...or not...

But definitely this day has been interesting for me. I got an early morning phone call, then as usual, I worked on my papers for my student, then it was on to school. Then assessment in school and then, I headed out to NBI in Carriedo. I was worried that I would get stuck in traffic because of the rallies but luckily, no rallies there. But I didn't take chances but I took the LRT. Strangely though, the LRT was jam-packed. That was the tightest squeeze I got...hehehehe...but it was the Women's carriage with the ocassional senior citizen squeezed in, which was good. There was a build up of people because there were about 2 trains who came in going to Monumento as compared to the other side.

I got to Carriedo in one piece. But I spent a lot of time waiting in line. There were 3 things I learned while I was there to process my 2 fingerprint cards for the FBI and DOJ.

One was that only certain individuals for fingerprinting can do that for those cards.

Two, to get a "fingerprint" checklist at Room 604.

And three, that I need to pay for two entrance tickets for the 2 cards.

Anyways I finally finished what I needed to do so I headed out to school to continue with my research. I went to the Registrar's office to check if my transcript of records was ready, and I wasn't surprised that it wasn't. Grr....I'd say more but what the hep...hehehehe...

Before I got to school, I took a little side trip. I think it was last night when I said to myself that although I have been to Luneta, I haven't actually seen the Rizal monument. And lo and behold, today, I finally went there. It wasn't entirely planned but it was definitely welcome. The weather also cooperated as it was rather cloudy and breezy and perfect for walking around. I was thinking of taking a picture while I was there since I brought my digital camera but I'm not a "cam whore" as one of my friends call themselves...hehehehe...but it was definitely a memory worth remembering. And I also wondered what all those statues there would say seeing those people making PDAs. Hmm....I'm sure they have a thing or two to say about that.

Oh, so there I was after my side trip in the Library, poring over case studies and Special Ed books. There aren't a lot of books in the Grad School Library and I'm loathe to go to the college library. I wish they had more books. But I guess the books I saw there are enough for now. Maybe one of these days or during the summer break, I'll go to the National Library and hopefully have more luck there.

After Library time, I went home. The bus was full so I decided to get off at Pedro Gil although what I really meant was Gil Puyat. That's the problem with those names. I'm not to familiar with places in Manila so I tend to confuse them. Now, I'm better off saying its Buendia...I'm sure I won't forget that anymore. Finally I found a bus in Buendia headed home and I was able to sit. I was already expecting that traffic would be heavy what with the rallies and the sale in Southmall. Grrr!!

I was surprised by the number of people in Baclaran but traffic wasn't heavy. It was however heavy in Coastal. Grr....we were like stuck there for almost an hour. I thought it was because of the sale but when we passed Longos, it was smooth sailing. I think what caused the build up, as usual was the Cavite-bound vehicles hogging the lane for Las Pinas. Grrr...to those drivers!!! Useless traffic for no reason.

So that about ends my 29th day of February. I can't believe tomorrow is March already. Oh well....is it time to panic? Hmm...not yet, I'm crossing my fingers.

Strange name...

I was in the bus weeks ago and as usual, there was already the revival of the NBN scandal. I couldn't watch the screen since there were people standing in the bus. I just heard the audio of the television. They started mentioning about the "ZTE Scandal" and it brought to mind another kind of scandal like the "Boardinghouse Scandal" and the other kinds of scandals which I have only heard of. Hehehe...it was strange hearing it. They should give it a more appropriate name for something that's very serious. I'm sure there are other better names. Hehehe...

Back to PCSC

It's my first day back at PCSC. It was both great and a little sad. Great because I got to see the kids again. It was a Friday so there were only a few of them. I saw Angela, Nickson, Christian and Angelo who still recognized me. A little sad because I didn't know the interns there anymore.

In a way, its like I've come full circle. When I first started, it was around June til August and the schoolyear was just starting. And now, its February and I will probably finish until the schoolyear is over til March and then I'll see the schoolyear end. But what is definitely different is that there are a lot of more interns there. It's not suprising. It's a great institution to learn from. I can definitely say that I've learned a lot of things about Special Ed in such a short amount of time. The SPED teachers I've worked there are hardworking and are very willing to help you out and the kids, what can I say, they always welcome you with a warm smile. Of course, there are some exceptions...hehe...but then again that's part and parcel of any institution.

The biggest challenge, other than writing my actual paper is waking up early. Sometimes, I have to be up early in some days that they all have morning shifts. Oh well, according to T. Bles, my Cooperating Teacher, I can just catch up. Oh yes, T. Bles, I'll just catch up. Hehehehe....especially on Monday when I have to be there at 7 AM. Catch up I'll definitely try.

It's a Trade Off

I was trying to remember what term it was in economics and it finally dawned on me. Oh, and the thought that that Nido commercial really irritates the heck out of me. I don't know. Maybe because they sound so superficial...hehe...like they're not real people. Whoever spouts stuff like that anyways? Oh well...maybe its jut me.

But I got sidetracked. So I suddenly fell silent on my blogging because I got busy with my moderating...naks....hehehe...I won't say where cause I'm sworn into secrecy but I must say that the day isn't complete without checking in on the forum. Just today, I read so many posts and oh, what joy it was....hehe...now I sound like someone from that Nido commercial, drat!!!

Anyways, I think its a trade off between blogging and moderating. It takes time to moderate a forum. Although I don't do much of the heavy stuff, I pretty much read everyone's post and edit whatever I can...at least according to the head honcho...lol...but its so much fun and a lot of hard work. But then again, who's afraid of hard work?
