Yesterday, I took the "mother of all tests." My compre or comprehensive exam.
What can I say? It was so difficult. I had to take 8 subjects, 4 major subjects and 4 core subjects. My major subjects comprised Second Acquisition Theories, Applied Linguistics, Teaching Reading.. and Production Adaptation. My core subjects are Research Methods, Foundations of Education, General Education, and Statistics.
We were supposed to use one hour for each subject. I would write more about the other details but let's just say that they were so difficult. I'm not so sure about whether I passed or not. Probably didn't do so well in other subjects like Research Methods and Statistics. Math really isn't my strong point that's why I majored in Language Education. But you can't run away from Math, it everywhere. You just learn to respect it and live with it. Otherwise you'll end up feeling frustrated.
The good news is, I can now start enjoying the rest of the summer break while the kids are still away. Work...oops I am not going to talk about work.
At least I enjoyed watching two movies today, Connie and Carla and Chocolat.
I loved Connie and Carla. It was funny. These two ladies witness a crime committed and run away from where they are. They end up in Hollywood and work as drag queens. They're successful at what they do and the bad guys end up finding them. Anyways, like I said it is pretty funny. Lots of Broadway songs involved. And one of the drag queens in the movie looks like a Filipino.
Chocolat is also pretty interesting. I liked the scenery. It happens in the 1950s in a French village. Juliette Binoche opens a chocolaterie in the town and lives are changed. I thought it was pretty good. Not to mention mouth-watering seeing all the chocolate.
I still have DVDs from Laryh and I hope to watch them tomorrow or the rest of the week. Thanks Lar....
