3 (trash)bags full

Today, was the designated "start to pack" day. So I had to go through the boxes which I have and try to figure out which to toss and which to keep. This is my seventh time to move...yes...from Sta. Mesa to Katipunan (1), Katipunan to Esteban Abada (2), Esteban Abada to Project 2 (3), Project 2 to Marikina (4), Marikina to Esteban Abada (5), Esteban Abada to Las Pinas (6) and now from Las Pinas to Cavite (7).

I started with very little to move with...hehehe..probably just clothes, school books, and my novels. Then started getting more stuff until my sisters and I lived together and then we had more stuff. It's amazing how we started with nothing. I remember when we were in Esteban Abada. We hardly had anything. We slept on the floor, we just had mats. For a table, we had just one. It was a table I got from my old landlady after she didn't return my month's rent. I remember when we first got out first TV. We were so happy to finally have a TV and it was placed on the floor. Then my sister got a "family computer" as it was called then. All I know was, I was soo happy to go home for lunch just because I could play our favorite game, "Battle City." There was this one Christmas or was it New Year's when we played for several hours til we finished all levels and went back to Level 1, but it wasn't as easy as the real Level 1. It was a marathon of sorts.

So, now, I had to go through my old books, notes and papers from school. Not to mention papers from work. I ended up with three trash bags full of paper. I've decided to toss my old college notes. From Philosophy to Economics. Heck, I can't even remember what they were about...hehehe...seemed like an alien language especially derivatives. Hmm...but I did know those at one time. But I can't seem to toss my old photocopies...hehehe...yeah right, like I'm going to read them in the near future. So I'm holding on to them for now.

Then there are my notes and photocopies from my Language course. They're a keeper for now. Hehehe, although, again, I don't know when I'm going to need them. It was fun though reading my old tests. Wow, I didn't know I could write like that...ha ha ha.

The last but definitely not the least, papers from my job. I had a lot of old lesson plans, plantilla, worksheets but mostly papers from seminars that we had to attend. The others I tossed, the others I kept and then some, I'm probably going to make notes just so I could access them on my pc if needed. I can't believe I killed those trees. Sorry trees!!!

And I know I'm not going to stop with the 3 trashbags. There'll be more since I have yet to start packing the things in the living room and the storage room.

Happy Mother's Day!!!

As I'm writing this, its only the day before Mother's day. But what the heck...better early than late...hehehe...

Last week, on a Saturday, I was watching TV when it dawned on me that it was almost Mother's Day. I had doubts about when it was going to be...that's one of my biggest problems, I can hardly keep track of birthdays and special occasions unless its my immediate family like my mom and sisters. The rest...um..thank goodness for Yahoo calendar or birthday alarm or Friendster, because I really don't remember birthdays. Probably the month, but never the date...seems so hard to keep track of dates. So there I was, typing away on my pc as well, reading the news and watching TV (yeah, that's multitasking for you) when I realized that I didn't know when Mother's Day really was...so I tried to look it up at my calendar (courtesy of BDO...hehehe, but there was nothing, made me wish those big calendars of old that shops used to give with the high tide and low tide as well as well as holidays). So finally, to end the suspense I searched in Yahoo....hehehe and luckily, its tomorrow, sigh. At least I'm not late.

So anyways, I thought I'd look at some quotations that I'd send to my mom, and my sisters who are now both mothers about motherhood. My favorite of the lot are the following:

Most of all the other beautiful things in life come by twos and threes, by dozens and hundreds . Plenty of roses, stars, sunsets, rainbows, brothers, and sisters, aunts and cousins, but only one Mother in the whole world.
~ Kate Douglas Wiggin

A mother's love is like a circle, it has no beginning and no ending. It keeps going around and around ever expanding, touching everyone who comes in contact with it.
~ Art Urban

It is at our mother's knee that we acquire our noblest and truest and highest ideals. ~ Mark Twain

Listen to your mother. Mothers are always right.
~ Brian Baldinger, Kids' Little Instruction Book (I think this one is my mom's favorite.

All mothers are rich when they love their children...Their love is always the most beautiful of joys.
~ Maurice Maeterlinck

The heart of a mother is a deep abyss at the bottom of which you will always find forgiveness.
~ Honoré de Balzac

And here's a special one for my sisters who have sons....hehehe....

Men are what their mothers made them.

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
