It seems like a lifetime...

since Papot, Laryh and I got together. The only one missing was Ella toot...but I'm sure she's with us in spirit.

Anyways, we started our 'reunion' online. We were supposed to meet at 4pm on a Thursday in Eli but we decided to move it earlier so we could have time to chitchat. If I remember the date, it was on the 24th of January.

So off I went to Town Center around 1:30pm in time hopefully for our 'reunion' at 2pm near Bayo in Town. As usual, I said yes without knowing where it really was. I figured I would know where it was. Or at least I'd have an idea where it was.

Going there was a bit of a problem since traffic was a little heavy. And then figuring out where was a little problem too. I thought it would be somewhere near their activity center or something. And I was right. When I got there, I didn't see the girls yet so I went around the place in the same floor. Then I spotted them.

Papot had lunch and as usual, we started our chitchats. Then after lunch, we went to Mercury Drug to buy food for Ms. Mems and Coke a cola for me of course. Then we went to Eli when it was almost 4pm.

When we got there, Mems was around and we had snacks or at least we ate what we brought. Then some picture taking and more chitchat. We finally left before it was 6pm. We were being a 'bad influence' at Laryh and told her to cancel her tutorial. Finally, she relented and I think she also realized that times like those when we were actually together was very rare. Before we left, we said goodbye briefly to T. Phi. As usual, we had a picture to remember that by.

Then we headed to Papot's place. We had dinner, watched TV, went online to check on some gossip and had more chitchat and picture taking.

According to Papot, the pictures were to 'make inggit' Ella...hehehehe...don't worry Ella, you'll be there in the picture one day, or you can give us fare to go to HK and then we'll have a complete group picture.

It was one of those rare instances when we were all together and who knows when that will happen again...hopefully soon...

Visited a Friend

Today, as usual, I woke up super duper late. I finally made a scrambled egg out of my lonesome egg. Now the fridge is empty, except for water. I debated whether to go to SM to get groceries but I'm too lazy. I usually wait when I'm so hungry and start seeing stars...hehehe, kiddding. I just go when I feel like going. And in this case, my hunger wasn't enough to drive me out of the house.

So after a hearty breakfast of rice and scrambled egg, I had a shower and texted my friend Jenneth to ask how she was. She texted back saying that she was busy cleaning house since her husband was arriving from abroad and he's a stickler for cleanliness...see, that's something I can't do, clean house properly...hehehe. She asked if I could go over to her house and help her clean. I replied saying that I'm no good at cleaning and I will only disrupt her cleaning frenzy. She texted back late in the afternoon asking if I could still go. I thought about it and since I think I do owe it to her to visit her, after the numerous favors she has done for me, I dressed up and asked her how I could get there. I have been there twice but usually she would pick me up. I pretty much knew how to get home but not how to go there. So she told me to go to Moonwalk or SM and take either Paliparan or Molino. I decided to go to Moonwalk even though she said it could take sometime waiting for a jeep. Well, I figured that I might as well just walk to Moonwalk since the traffic going to SM was heavy. Plus I could use the exercise after all the food frenzy.

So there I was walking, and walking and walking some more. It wasn't that warm anymore since it was about past 4 PM. There were a lot of people there too. And she was right, it was quite sometime before I found the right jeep. But well worth it I think. At least I avoided the traffic.

There wasn't a lot of traffic going there, luckily. I arrived in one piece in Jollibee Molino. I knew it would be awhile before she arrived so I ordered one chocolate sundae and looked at the people around. There were mostly kids with their moms / families.

I finished my sundae and still no sign of her. But she did come, with Stef. As usual, Ms. Jenneth had a new do with highlights all over. Still looked the same. She ordered fries and sundae for the kids.

When we got to her house, we had the fries and of course, my favoriste soda, Coke. We talked about special ed, our favorite topic, reminisced about the good old days and our chat adventures....hehehe...its never boring with her.

Finally, I had to say good bye as it was getting late almost 9pm. As usual, she dropped me off at Molino and I boarded a jeep going to SM. It took awhile before the jeep left as manong driver had to make sure it was almost filled up with people. I was seriously nervous when I looked at the people there. Funny thing was, before, when we'd go home after shift around 11pm, I never felt nervous in Alabang or even when I'd go home in the wee hours of the morning with my batchmates. But today, I felt nervous. So I pocketed my mobile phone and my lone one thousand peso bill...I was going to use that for my grocery just in case someone there with dishonorable intentions would get my bag or something. There was basically nothing in my bag except for toilet paper, lipstick, my precious prayerbook, an umbrella and my coinpurse. So I won't feel too bad. Anyways, nothing untoward happened except for manong driver suddenly breaking. I don't know if he saw a creature cross the street or he thought he saw something. What's important is that I got home safe and sound.

And that's about my adventure in Marcos Alvarez Avenue. Tomorrow, its back to school. So I should be posting this and going to bed by 11 so I would up early and won't be late again...I'll write more next time.

My Sister's Tying the Knot....

I was thinking about what to post last night when I got sidetracked reading as usual.

Well, not much happened today, other than defrosting the fridge, which I should've done last year. So now, its empty except for the lone egg. There's water but I can't make a meal out of it...hehehe...

What was exciting? Well, I got a text from my sister that's she's tying the knot on the 14th and she asked if I could be one of the witnesses. Well, I said yes. I told her that as usual, I was doing nothing. Oh well...at least I'll be there for a change. So, there's one married member of the family, at least by next week. Hurray!!! I thought for a while there that there wouldn't be...but I wouldn't blame my sisters if they're wary of committing...the same can be said of me. Getting married is the easy part but doing it for the next 20 years or so, well, I'd say doubly difficult especially in this day and age when it's so easy to cheat on a spouse. There's the internet and the mobile phone, its soo easy to meet people there and do this and that.

But I do admire them for taking the plunge. I read somewhere that more people think that they don't have to get married to show that they're in love with someone, something like that anyways. Well, its quite difficult to get unhitched, especially if you're Catholic. It's probably more expensive to go through an annulment than a wedding. But then again, who am I? Hehehe...just your average commitment phobic gal.

This is for January 4, 2008

So what do I blog about?

That's the million dollar question for the day. Hmmm...so I'll just go on and on about my day then.

As usual, I woke up late. I heard my alarm which was set for 7:30am. Actually turned off the alarm and then promptly went back to sleep. I woke up again around 9am and then went back to sleep. And finally woke up at 11am. I figured it was high time I woke up to have brunch.

So I went to the kitchen and had a delicious brunch of lasagna which my sister made. Mom had packed some of the leftovers from the New Years so I had lasagna, bico, an apple and pancit Malabon. Well, the apple's gone as I had it for dessert yesterday and the bico as well and the lasagna this morning and afternoon, which is my dinner and for the rest of the day tomorrow, I'll have the leftover pancit, which I hope isn't spoiled yet.

Had my usual shower, went out briefly to the nearest sari-sari store to get my usual bottle of 1.5L Coke a Cola and then started working on my paper which I'm supposed to turn in for Sunday. I was worried that I would run out of black ink paper as the paper is quite lengthy, about 85 pages but luckily, I think I still have half of the ink left and enough paper for the rest of the classes, just in case I need to turn in papers.

Then I started doing my resolution no. 2 and that is contribute to my forum. Up until now, I'm still working on it. I'm hoping to finish the book in 2 days but I think this is going to stretch to 3 - 4 days depending on how fast I work. Its definitely a lot of work but I enjoy it. What am I doing? Well, its a secret...hehehehehe..

After working on my pet project as I like to call it, I had the last meal of the day which is a pack of crackers while watching the news.

Hmm...what's in the news? The fire in Baclaran Galleria which started this morning, around 5:30am and probably still going on. The firefighters are afraid there are still embers that might cause another fire at a nearby building. And that Jennylin Mercado is infanticipating...well, I could give my two cents worth about that, but what the heck. Kids!!! I think that's eloquent enough...lol...

And now, I'm done blogging for the day. Before I go, there was this quote from a friend, Anon. I totally agree that right now I'm not totally committed to my goals...gimme time, I'm just warming up. So may this be a reminder to me everyday...

"There's a difference between interest and commitment.
When you're interested in doing something,
you do it only when circumstance permit.
When you're committed to something,
you accept no excuses, only results."

Which resolution have you broken?

I was channel surfing as usual last night and before I could move on to another channel, this female host said, "Which resolution have you broken?" I thought it was funny since it was after all just the second day of the new year, and I realized that I was definitely guilty of that.

So, which resolution, in my case goal, have I broken? Well, no. 2, and that is keeping myself busy. All I've done is keep myself occupied with sleep that I have barely enough time to do other things that I'm supposed to do. Hehehe...Guilty as charged. Definitely I need to make changes. For example, spending less time chatting at night and logging off the net earlier so I could wind down right away. Usually, I try to read but I end up forgetting about the time and reading for like 2 - 3 hours and its already 3 AM. Hehehe...

Okay, so tonight, I will make a conscious effort to log off early, probably around 10 and then reading for an hour so I'll be in bed by 12mn and awake by 8 am. Please, please, let me do this....hehehe....

I can do this, I can do this, I can do this...

What goals / resolutions have you already broken? Don't join the bandwagon...hehehehe....

Episode on Autism

In keeping with my goal to blog more, I've decided to write something today. And it's all about what I watched on TV, autism. It was a segment in the program, "Tomorrow Today" of DW-TV. They featured some kids with autism but with different degrees. I'm certainly no expert at it, but I can relate to what some of the caregivers go through with them. The first child featured was in an inclusive classroom but later on, with his aggression and probably disagreement with his teacher, he was pulled out and placed in a special education class. The second child's experience focused on his caregiver's difficulty with him, such as inability to communicate and lack of eye contact. That's certainly to be expected with a CWA.

The program also mentioned that their focus was now on research on the cause of autism being genetic or with functioning somehow of the brain. Well, there is much to learn about autism. And we owe it to ourselves to learn about it, especially since it seems to be on the rise...
